Connected reading · for iPhone

Every book you read, connected.

Photograph a page, or bring in your Kindle highlights. Scriptorio finds the passages that belong together across all your books, says in one line what they share, and brings them back until the idea is yours.

The Scriptorio Today screen, showing cards due for review and a new connection found between two books.
The problem

You read forty books this year. You can recite, maybe, four.

Highlighting isn't remembering. The marginalia, dog-eared pages, and saved passages pile up — and the ideas you cared about most quietly leave you. The next book replaces the last.

Search isn't connection. Collecting notes can fill an archive without ever forming a web of ideas. Note-taking is often just forgetting more slowly. Three different authors may be circling the same thought without your library ever bringing them together. The book that would have answered your question is on a shelf you stopped looking at.

The practice

From one page to everything you've read.

Selecting a passage from a photographed page of Seneca's letters inside Scriptorio.
i.Capture

Point your camera, or bring your Kindle.

Photograph the page in front of you and drag over the passage worth keeping — text recognition runs on the device. Sign in to your Kindle notebook once and every highlight you have ever made comes across, book by book. Anything from Safari or Books arrives through the share sheet. It all lands on the same shelf.

A graph of notes and connections, clustered into themes such as How to live and On attention.
ii.Connections

The pairs you'd never have put side by side.

Every passage carries a meaning computed on your own device. When two circle the same thought, Scriptorio sets them side by side with one line on what they share. See a link it missed? Draw it yourself and note why. Over time, the map of everything you have read builds itself.

A theme collection called On solitude, holding passages from four different books.
iii.Collections

Sorted by idea, not by book.

A passage belongs to a thought, not to the shelf you found it on. Theme collections gather everything you kept about one idea — Thoreau, Montaigne and Marcus Aurelius on solitude, four centuries apart, sitting on the same screen.

A review card showing a passage from Rilke with scheduling options.
iv.Review

Nothing you read slips away.

Spaced repetition brings each note back at the moment it would otherwise fade. Say how easily it came to you and the interval adapts — a day at first, then a week, then a month, until the idea is simply yours.

Reading activity, showing hours, pages, sessions and a weekly chart.
v.Habit

See the habit, not just the books.

A reading timer that runs while you read and stops when you stop. Sessions, pages, streaks and goals add up on their own. Finish a book, rate it, and note the one thing that stays and who you would hand it to.

On your data

Text recognition and the semantic analysis behind your connections both run on your device. Your note text is not sent to a third-party AI service to be indexed.

Your books, notes and collections sync to your own account so they are there on your next device. What we collect and how long we keep it is set out in full in the app privacy policy.
